Created by Swedish artist Maria Trolle, this artwork was designed for Miles for Mothers, a charity run organized by Adidas Stockholm Run Club in support of Musikhjälpen 2024. With the theme "Everyone has the right to survive their pregnancy," the event brought runners together to raise awareness and funds for maternal health, contributing to the 60+ million SEK raised for the cause.
The illustration celebrates motherhood in a positive light, weaving in symbolic elements that reflect both the journey of the runners and the cause they support. A serene mother cradles her child beneath intertwining tree branches, symbolizing protection, strength, and the cycle of life. The seven flowers in the design represent the seven maternity clinics along the ultra-marathon route, each a vital part of Stockholm’s maternal care network. In the background, the Stockholm skyline, featuring its iconic City Hall, grounds the artwork in the city that brought runners together for change.
This piece is a tribute to those who ran, supported, and believed in the power of movement to create a safer future for mothers worldwide.
